Upside Down Text Generator

Type your text below and it flips upside down instantly - copy the result anywhere.

How Flipping Text Actually Works

There is no rotate button in Unicode. The trick is substitution: for each letter, the generator finds an existing character elsewhere in Unicode that happens to look like the flipped version - ɐ for a, ʇ for t, ¿ for ?. Reverse the character order, and the result reads naturally when the whole line is turned 180 degrees. It is an elegant hack that has amused the internet for two decades.

Classic Uses

Attention-grabbing tweets and comments, playful Instagram bio lines, prank messages to friends, and the occasional dramatic sǝʞɐʇs ɥƃᴉɥ announcement. Combined with our other styles - like the mirror-clean fancy fonts or tiny text - you can build a bio nobody scrolls past.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does upside down text work?

Each letter is swapped for a Unicode character that looks like its upside-down twin (a becomes ɐ, e becomes ǝ), and the letter order is reversed so the whole line reads correctly when flipped.

Where can I paste flipped text?

Anywhere Unicode works: Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, Discord, WhatsApp, YouTube comments, and most usernames. It is a favorite for playful bios and attention-catching comments.

Why do a few characters look imperfect?

Unicode has no dedicated upside-down alphabet - generators borrow lookalike characters from other scripts (IPA phonetics, Latin extensions). Most letters flip cleanly; a few, like capital Q, only have approximate twins.
